Flute Grade & Explanation

The key aspect of the corrugated board that could affect its performance is the know as the flute type.
The flute is the “corrugated” section between the two liners, and by altering its’ height (indicating the size of the flutes) it is possible to obtain different performance characteristics.

A-FLUTE (Single Layer)

A-Flute
is the basic original fluting for corrugated boxes and is the thickest flute profile you can use. It is roughly 5mm in thickness, and is an excellent option for products that need a little more cushioning or need to have extra strength for stacking. It generally has a total of 30-36 flutes per 30cm, it can be used for a double wall application or thick corrugated pad.

What is Single-Layer?

Single sheet of corrugated medium is glued between two sheets of liner. Single-layer board is the most common type of board in the market and can be used for common packaging from shipping boxes to retail displays.

B-FLUTE (Single Layer)

B flute
is the most commonly used for packaging applications. It has 3mm in thickness, also exceptionally versatile. It provides an overall good and steady performance in all types of carton box packaging. It generally has a total of 44-50 flutes per 30cm as well as a thickness of 1/8 inch.

BA-FLUTE (Double Layer)

BA flute
is the combination of A Flute with B Flute. It has approximately 8mm in thickness  The result is a strong corrugation used when extra thickness or stacking strength is required. Suitable for large and heavy items as the fluting are thick and durable.

Easysbox ready made boxes are all in BA Flute – which is ideal for any general packaging, house moving and heavy items packaging.

What is Double-Layer?

Two sheets of corrugated medium are glued between three sheets of liner. Double-layer board is commonly used for heavier products, or products that require a stronger box and cushioning for shipping.
